Bandwidth IG to provide dark fiber to customers connecting through Switch’s data centers in Atlanta
ATLANTA, GA., Feb. 24, 2021 – Bandwidth Infrastructure Group (Bandwidth IG), a metro dark fiber network provider in Northern California and Greater Atlanta serving mission critical data centers, hyperscalers and enterprises with new, high capacity dark fiber, today announced an agreement with Switch (NYSE:SWCH) to provide dark fiber for Switch’s Keep Campus in Atlanta. Together, Bandwidth IG and Switch, the global technology infrastructure corporation, will drive diverse transport connectivity for customers to enjoy massive capacity in an exascale colocation environment.
Switch’s exascale data centers are designed to meet the unique needs of High Performance Computing (HPC). The data center environment requires infrastructure that can meet the data-intensive demands of the applications that manage the flow of data. With the rise of HPC, as well as the increased demand for more bandwidth driven by Artificial Intelligence, IoT devices and Big Data, the need for the high-quality dark fiber Bandwidth IG provides is also rising.
“This important agreement between Switch and Bandwidth IG is part of Switch’s strategic infrastructure development to accelerate our growth in Atlanta,” says Switch SVP of Connectivity Scott Gutierrez. “Bandwidth IG brings the dark fiber infrastructure necessary to quickly and securely transmit data that our host of clients can leverage for their mission critical communications.”
Bandwidth IG’s newly constructed dark fiber network provides a scalable, flexible network that is custom-built to meet the needs of data centers and enterprises throughout the Greater Atlanta area, one of the largest data center markets in the U.S. Together, Bandwidth IG and Switch are creating a connectivity solution that meets the distinctive needs of HPC data center environments, including the advanced power and cooling needs.
“Modern businesses require modern network infrastructure for tethering external data centers back to company headquarters or other critical locations where data is stored,” says Jim Nolte, CEO for Bandwidth IG. “While most of the networks out there are over 20 years old, our dark fiber networks are brand new and can easily meet the high standards of today’s digital enterprises.”
Bandwidth IG’s Greater Atlanta dark fiber network spans more than 50 route miles and 93,000 route miles. To learn more about Bandwidth IG, visit www.bandwidthig.com.
